Isn’t that a great updo?
I found this girl on twitter after @besthairstyles tweeted one of her tutorials.
Her name is Katie and she does some fabulous braids!
In this 7 minute video, she demonstrates step-by-step how to braid a French fishtail updo. (I’ve listed the basic steps below the video.)
Step 1: Part hair to the side. Start a French fishtail braid on the side of the head that has more hair.
Step 2: Just after you reach the back of the head, switch to a lace fishtail braid. Only add in hair from the top side, until you reach the side part.
Step 3: When you reach the side part, stop adding in hair and finish to the end with a regular braid. (At this point, she recommends back combing to keep the braid in. I would suggest securing the braid with a small hair band in order to minimize damage to the hair.)
Step 4: Pin braid out of the way.
Step 5: Switch to the other side of the head and start another French fishtail braid.
Step 6: Continue with the fishtail braid until all remaining hair has been incorporated.
Step 7: When you run out of hair, finish off with a regular braid. Secure the end with a small hair band.
Step 8: Take the first fishtail and twist into a bun. Be sure to tuck in the ends. Secure the bun with pins.
Step 9: Take the second fishtail and wrap it around the bun, tucking in the ends. Secure with pins.
Congratulations on your finished updo!!

Love this but I doubt I can do this on myself! I will practice on my daughter though… if she lets me!

Hahaha! Yes, I want to try it on my 3 year old niece when I see her this summer. I may have to bribe her!
