It’s easy to understand the benefits of confidence. What you might not know is that low self-confidence is sometimes difficult to pinpoint but can seriously hold you back.

This can happen whether you realize you suffer from it or not, because lack of confidence in yourself causes you to believe you aren’t enough in some meaningful way. It might be that you think you don’t have enough skill, talent, or experience (or some other key quality).

As a result, you’ll likely sabotage yourself whenever opportunity presents itself, and you’ll have a difficult time making deliberate, sustained, and meaningful progress in your personal or professional life.

Regularly practicing mindfulness allows you to intentionally replace your feelings of unworthiness with a complete trust in your abilities.

When you’re tempted to dwell on situations where you fell short in your own estimation, acknowledge the thought and intentionally correct it with the truth that in any given situation, you did the best you could. Your best may have looked different than you’d hoped given the circumstances.

Then release the negative feeling and replace it with the truth that you have everything you need to succeed.

How Mindfulness Can Help Your Self Esteem Too

By being mindful, you acknowledge and lovingly accept yourself right where you are, as you are, without making excuses for the past or blaming yourself for failures. It helps you to be in the present and truly see yourself honestly as you are, right now – someone who is strong and capable of so much good.

This allows you to rebuild the trust in yourself that is key to holding yourself in high esteem – true self esteem.

Without Mindfulness, You Can Get Stuck

The habit of mindfulness teaches you to acknowledge and accept yourself, exactly as you are. Without this, it’s far too easy to let a negative self-talk script establish itself in your mind, repeating itself over and over on auto-play.

While it may become so familiar that it’s almost like white noise and you don’t consciously hear it, your subconscious mind is acutely aware of it. You begin to internalize these statements, accepting them as truth.

When your subconscious believes these lies, you may have a hard time believing in yourself and moving forward. But because it’s in your subconscious mind, you might have a hard time figuring out why.

The regular practice of mindfulness is one of the simplest ways to accept yourself, no matter what your past holds, and build the bright future that you are worthy of. Through mindfulness, you can retrain yourself to accept yourself exactly as you are, without having to waste time or mental focus on blaming yourself for failures.
